Scotch Plains is a township in Union County with a population of 23,510, and encompasses over 9 square miles. The area was first settled in 1864, and thus has a rich history, with many Revolutionary War landmarks still standing today. Scotch Plains is a diversely populated town, and reflects a variety of ethnic and religious groups. There is a YMCA and Jewish Community Center, along with many banks, shops, and parks. The town has a thriving business community, excellent schools, and numerous recreation opportunities for residents of all ages.
